Beef with Plaync usability
Hi guys,
Anyone mind telling me how the fvcking hell you change the email associated with your gw account? Navigating through the stupid plaync is so damn frustrating. I can't find anything on that site. For example, can't find a way to change the email used to login to GW, can't find their stupid contact support email to ask, submitting a new question to ask about my above problem prompts you to create a new account -- despite the fact that I already made an account profile for my gw login! I mean come on, wtf?! I know I changed it once before in the past and it was probably in game under edit account options. Now I cannot seem to find anyway to do that in the client. Anet should just go back to the old way of managing our accounts, so much simpler that way and more intuitive. Now I go through link after link starting with the support section in guildwars.com and end up in plaync.com somewhere. I find a support phone# for normal business hours and no contact email to be found anywhere. ANet please make this thing more usable ffs! Ok now if anyone knows someway to do what I'm looking for please tell me because I am at a loss here. Thanks |

Also, @OP please dont avoid the swear/word filter. Anyway, from what I have experienced (was hacked before) there is no way to change your email. Your account is tied to your Play NCSOft master account. You can change your password from there, add keys, ect. but after actually talking with NCSoft support on the phone, I dont think there is a way to change your email. Hopefully someone can prove elsewise. |

I also believe there is no way to change the username. On the other hand, it is just a username and it isn't used to contact you - there's a separate contact email address used for that.

1. The login email address for an account is the Account Name. Changing that is the equivalent of changing ownership. That is not allowed.
2. You can change the contact email address at any time.

Unfortunately you can't, and it's really damn annoying. Mine is linked to an email address I don't use anymore.
My question is, what happens when soemone else takes that deleted email account name, and tries to register GW, when it is stuck to my account? |

It will tell them that account name is taken, probably. And? Your password is still a secret, non-trivial code over 7 characters in length and containing a combination of characters, digits and special characters, right? :P And they can use a different email address or register via the plaync with a non-email address account name.

ok that is utterly stupid. how can anet associate an email change the same as ownership change?? Just because you want to change your email does not mean your selling your acct to someone else!
Very simple scenario, what if the email acct you registered with no longer works for whatever reason? Or perhaps you changed isp so your email address changes etc. There are lots of reasons why one would want to change their associated email and anet is obligated to put that function back into the game. If someone finds out the email you used for your gw acct they already got half the puzzle solved in hacking your account... Seriously, this is retarded, put the damn thing back in please!! |

1. The original email is the ACCOUNT NAME (ID) which cannot be changed.
2. The original email address only needs to be valid during the account setup. If you used an email address for your Account Name that is no longer valid, you are now better protected against account theft. You will no longer be giving away your account name with every message sent. 3. Keeping your CONTACT EMAIL current allows ArenaNet/PlayNC to contact you. 4. If you used your widely-known normal email address as your Account Name, then be sure that your password is complicated. Create a second icon and use the password Command Line http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Command_line to prevent a keylogger from getting your password.
